Quickie Post

Monday night Evelynd went to bed at 8 p.m.  I went to bed at midnight and am pretty sure I didn't get out of bed until 6 a.m.  That means she slept ten hours!  I wish I had taken better advantage of it.  Tuesday night, she didn't go to sleep until 11 p.m., but didn't wake up until 5 a.m.  A six hour stretch.  Last night, she slept for a seven hour stretch.  She's getting to be a pretty great sleeper.

For Dassow Dinners, we had an old standby: Chinese Chicken Salad.  It was delicious:

Here are a couple of pictures of our beautiful baby yesterday (I tried to post this last night, but Blogger was not working):

Track Town, U.S.A.

Yesterday, Dassow Daddy got to go to the Track National Championships in Eugene.  He couldn't believe how fast the runners were.

A nice day at Hayward Field.

Nick Symmonds, a Willamette alum like Dassow Daddy and Mommy, winning his race.
When Dassow Daddy returned home, he got to eat spinach and feta quesadillas and play with his baby.

Thanks for the cute summer dress, Nana and Papa Dassow!

Dassow Mommy got to visit with her high school friends Annabelle and Eva.  Then, Katey and Kayla came by for a surprise visit.  Pretty good day.

Today was humid, which is rare for Oregon.  We went for a walk, I taught, and we played with our super-smiley girl.  She was a super happy baby today -- probably because she let Dassow Mommy get a six hour stretch of sleep!

Practicing her martial arts skills.

The outfit Evelynd wore today was the first gift I opened at my first baby shower.  It was from Arel Grimshaw.  Later in the shower, I opened Kendell Prestwich's gift.  She said I didn't need to open it -- we'd already seen it.  Turns out it was this same outfit, but luckily in a different size, so Evelynd will get to wear this again when she's about a year old.  Yay!

FYI, Dassow Daddy and Mommy have a bunch of bar exam essays to grade in the next week.  I will try to post, but no guarantees.  Sometimes we don't even get to sleep and we've never had a baby while trying to grade before.  We'll see how it goes!

Evelynd's First Carousel Ride

Evelynd might be a horse girl.

Today was gorgeous so I thought it would be nice to go to the park and take Evelynd to the carousel for the first time.  One of the great things about living in Salem is that it has a lot of activities for kids.  The Riverfront Carousel is one of them.

I took Evelynd on Ruby Rose for her first carousel ride.  She was smiling and staring at the horse next to us.  Unfortunately, you can't really see her face in the pictures, but she was a happy baby.

After the carousel ride, we walked around the park a little bit.  We went down to the river and watched some of the festivities at the World Beat Festival.
Geese swimming in the Willamette River.

Evelynd watching all the people.

A fan dance at the World Beat Festival.

After all the fun, Evelynd was tired out.
We came home and I made dinner (this week, Peter's shopping trip was much shorter) and took some pictures of my cute baby.

The vegetables for our cheese and veggie hoagies.

The finished sandwich.

Evelynd in one of her favorite poses (thanks for the clothes, Sue, and the socks, Jippings).

TGIF

Yes, it's Friday.  I taught one hour in the morning and then got to spend the rest of the day with Evelynd.  She took a three hour nap in the afternoon after we went for a walk so I got the rest of my bar exam essays graded, the checkbook balanced, a thank you note written, the bills paid, the dishes done, the dog poo picked up, emails written, phone calls returned, double chocolate chunk cookies made, and health insurance researched.  It's been a long time since I've gotten to be that productive in an afternoon.  So, here's my Beautiful Bird today:

Dassow Dinners was an Apple-jack chicken pizza with carmelized onions:
And while Dassow Mommy was making dinner, Evelynd tried out a new toy from the Jipping family.  She liked it and was using her hands to touch the different toys in front of her:

Yesterday was mainly work: teaching and grading.  We had fun playing at the Seales, though.  Thanks for reading Evelynd a book!

Finger Smiles

It's hard to smile with your whole hand in your mouth, but Evelynd was doing it today.

Nothing much to report today, just working and playing with baby.  DassowDinners was another new recipe of ham and vegetables au gratin.

Evelynd's in bed and as soon as I finished grading some essays, I'll be doing the same.  So good night all.

Thanks for the cute onesie, Stephanie, and thanks for the cute capris, Nana and Papa Dassow.
