Evelynd's First Funeral

Monday Evelynd and I went to Robert Rueda's memorial service.  Bob Rueda is the grandfather of my students Drew and Sydney Millane.  Evelynd was a good girl and completely loved the vocalist (another grandchild).  When she heard the singing, she immediately turned her head to watch and became very still.  Kim Leinbach was holding Evelynd during the service and Ev actually used her hands to feel the toy Kim was holding out for her.  She's starting to be able to reach for things.

Today, Ev and I traveled without Dassow Daddy again.  Half the time she was a dream and half the time she was fussy because she was so tired, but didn't want to sleep because she knew she would miss all the fun.  It was in the 80's today and the car got pretty hot for Evelynd (she must have her father's blood -- her mother is almost never hot).  Also, it was hard to get a picture of her today because she was either fussy/sleeping or moving so it looked like this:

So, here's the best I could get:

Sucking her thumb has become her favorite pastime.

Also, in continuation of Dassow Dinners, we had beef and vegetables in lettuce boats yesterday (today was leftover night).

P.S. Red Sox won yesterday.  Where's Lowrie?  We want him back!

  1. As your dentist uncle, Evelynd, I gotta discourage the thumb sucking.

  2. What a sweet little berry girl she is! Try "sport" setting on your camera (if you haven't already). Isn't it amazing how babies respond to music? She and Thalia will have to be in choir together;-)

  3. I think you better write a cookbook with all those delicious and HEALTHY dinners. Evelynd gets cuter every day! I love you. Mom
