Our Week

Here's an update since Monday.
Tuesday: We went on our Portland area tour, but had a long lunch break since multiple families were on vacation.  Evelynd had scratched her nose pretty badly, so she had to wear her mittens.
When she was in a deep sleep, I gave Ev her first nail clipping.  Success!  No blood and all ten nails short enough to take off the mittens.

Wednesday: Teaching and errands.

Thursday: Teaching and prepping for Grandpa and Nana Evans and Uncle Nick's visit.

Friday: We started the day with a visit to GG'ma and GG'pa.  At 5:30, we joined the Lathens for a birthday dinner for Nana Evans.  Then, SURPRISE!
The scene greeting Nana Evans as she entered the Lathens home after dinner.  We did a good job keeping it a secret because Nana actually jumped.

Blowing out the candles on her three cakes.

When Evelynd wasn't fussing (she was so tired, but wanted to stay awake for the party), this is what she was doing.

The surprise party was a success.  The funny thing was that everyone in attendance had been at Nana Evans' surprise 40th birthday at the Lathens, too (except Peter and Evelynd).  Uncle Nick was a three-month-old baby at that one.

Saturday: We slept in a bit.  We went to Costco (still debating whether a membership is worth it now that we are a family of three + two dogs).  Then we saw GG'ma and GG'pa again and Great Uncle Jon.  Peter took these pictures while we were there (Dassow Mommy was taking a nap):

We came home and had Chinese takeout and are now watching Harry Potter 7.
Smiling up at Uncle Nick (Nana Evans is enjoying some left over birthday cake).

Evie and her Grandpa.

Sitting on her Grandpa's lap.
P.S. Red Sox shut out the Yankees.  Yipee!

  2. Wow- looks like a fun time with your parents. Glad that you could surprise Margi...
I've never seen such a happy baby at Costco. You should join just because Evie seems so happy there- It must've been the churro that Peter bought her:-)
