Dassow Family Fourth

This is not just Evelynd's first 4th of July, but our whole family's.  When Dassow Mommy and Daddy started dating, they were in their final year of law school.  They spent their first 4th together studying for the bar exam.  Their other 4ths were all spent grading practice bar exams.  So, this year was Independence from Grading Day.
The day started at a big pancake breakfast (not a great picture, but oh well):
Then we joined the Jipping family for their neighborhood children's parade:

Evelynd was in her car seat/stroller because she was asleep when the parade began. Otherwise she would have been in her little stroller so people could see her and she could have looked out.

After the parade, the Jippings had a picnic lunch waiting for us.  Yum and what a nice surprise!  We came home in the afternoon expecting Evelynd to take a nap, but she was wanting to play instead.  I took her outside and she rolled over some more.  She also figured out how to grab my hair while nursing and thought it was pretty funny.

Dassow Dinners was mini Greek turkey burgers with a cucumber sauce:
It is definitely a meal we'll repeat.

Later, we took some pictures of Evelynd, tried some firecrackers in the backyard, and went for a walk.  Evelynd finally went to bed at 11 p.m.

This one's for Nana Evans and a reminder to everyone who hasn't read her book yet to get a copy: http://www.themisttrilogy.com/.

A real 4th of July!

Tomorrow is back to grading.  I don't have any lessons because all my traveling will be on Thursday instead (see you then GG'ma and GG'pa).  Happy 4th of July Everyone!
